One example of our pro bono projects is an impact evaluation for a program run by One World Education to help middle and high schools students in DC improve their research and writing skills. Another example is a cost-benefit analysis of a program for highly disadvantaged youth run by Latin America Youth Center. A third example is an assessment of the homeless volunteer outreach of Capitol Hill Group Ministry.
If you have skills and would like to help local nonprofits, please let me know! Our Rotary club is also active in other service projects, including providing a dictionary to every third grader in Ward 6.
In case you may be interested in Rotary more generally, we provide opportunities for service, networking, and friendships locally as well as internationally. Please come and visit us at the Dubliner Restaurant on F Street. We have meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM, typically with great speakers giving us insights on the community and the world.
Our next two speakers are Gordon Scott on November 22 on the benefits of recycling and Molly Singer on December 13 on Capitol Hill Village. For more information on the Rotary Club of Capitol Hill, please send an email to Quentin Wodon at rotarianeconomist@gmail.com.
