Hill Business Again Ranked as One of Top 100 Music Stores in America by National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM)
On Friday July 14th, the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) held the ‘Top 100’ banquet and awards ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee. Music on the Hill (801 D St. NE) was honored as one of the top 100 music stores in North America, a distinction they have held for the past two years.
This year, Music on the Hill was also one of three finalists in the “Top Emerging Dealer” category, which recognizes music stores who have opened in the past five years. Music on the Hill opened in 2013.
Music on the Hill rents many kinds of instruments and sells sheet music, musical toys for children, and accessories like bow rosin and replacement reeds. They offer lessons in guitar, ukulele, drums, brass, and woodwind instruments as well as voice lessons, all on both an individual and group basis.
“I’m shocked that we were singled out for this honor- it’s very difficult to get a nomination at the awards ceremony, much less a win,” said Lindy Campbell, who owns Music on the Hill.
The annual awards show recognizes the industry’s outstanding music retailers who demonstrate exceptional commitment to their stores, neighborhoods and customers, and share in a vision of creating a more musical world through their local communities.
NAMM reported that each store was numerically rated across several categories including customer service, music advocacy, store design and promotions. Total scores resulted in placement for the ‘Top 100 Dealers’ list, the category awards and the overall Dealer of the Year Award.
“At the heart of every music store, there is a story of inspiration, dedication and a pursuit to create a more musical world,” said Joe Lamond, NAMM President and CEO. “The Top 100 Dealers exemplify a commitment – to their communities, their staff, and the industry to create a space which welcomes and inspires music makers through their products and services.”
