Press Release: For Immediate Release
Two years ago, the CHAMPS Board of Directors undertook a comprehensive strategic planning activity designed to evaluate the needs of the Capitol Hill business community during a time of rapid growth and change in Washington, D.C. The plan resulted in Board of Directors member Betsy Poos transitioning to Executive Director. Betsy spearheaded a revitalization and expansion of CHAMPS programs, which resulted in focusing CHAMPS educational programs, creating opportunities for Hill-based retail establishments, engaging with city agency and council leaders and, most importantly, nearly tripling membership. Having achieved so much, and for family reasons, Betsy has decided to step away for now and hand the reins to a successor. As an organization, CHAMPS is deeply indebted to Betsy for her dedication and achievements.
CHAMPS is very pleased to announce the appointment of Julie Aaronson as CHAMPS Executive Director. Julie is a long-time resident of Capitol Hill with her husband and two children. Most recently, she was Associate Assistant Secretary for Budget and Appropriations for the U.S. Department of Labor. She brings a wealth of legislative and outreach experience to CHAMPS. Julie will build on CHAMPS successes as we move forward to advocate on behalf of, connect and promote Capitol Hill businesses.
CHAMPS was organized in 1983 to support businesses on Capitol Hill through advocacy, education, promotion and networking programs. For more information, please call CHAMPS at 202.547.7788 or send email to champs@capitolhill.org.
