CHAMPS is creating three committees to reinforce and strengthen our mission to advocate, connect and promote! Email julie@capitolhill.org to sign up.

This is your opportunity to help shape our advocacy and education, grow our membership, and develop the promotions and events that serve your business needs and those of the broader Capitol Hill community. Please consider volunteering for one of the below committees to share your insight and expertise.

Advocate/Educate Committee – Board Members Phil Guire and Michael Warner. The purpose of the committee is to:

• identify issues and concerns in the business community that should be raised with ANC and DC Council elected officials;
• testify before ANCs and/or the Council on legislative and regulatory proposals that impact the business community;
• choose topics and issues that CHAMPS members would like to be better educated and informed on. These could be legislation, a newly formed DC agency, a new regulatory proposal, etc;
• and identify ways to connect CHAMPS businesses and government officials.

Connect Committee – Board Members Laurie Gillman, Ryan McKinley, Doug Yeuell

The purpose of the committee is to:

• identify meaningful networking opportunities for CHAMPS members, such as the monthly entrepreneur and storefront meetings, and develop a mentorship program;
• grow membership development methods and oversee implementation;
• and identify materials to include in a welcome package for new members.

Promote Committee – Board Members Jim Nicolson and Claudia Rauch

The purpose of the committee is to:

• identify promotional opportunities for CHAMPS members and CHAMPS broadly as an organization;
• identify and assist in planning community events that CHAMPS can participate, or that CHAMPS can help bring members into, such as Volunteer Capitol Hill, 4^th of July Parade;
• help develop and promote events, such as Sip and Shop;
• and identify and promote advertising and PR opportunities.
