Capitol Hill Giving Week – May 4-12
From May 4 to May 12, Capitol Hill Businesses Raise Funds for DC Schools and Organizations
[Washington, D.C. – May 1, 2019] — From May 4 to May 12, women-owned businesses Hill’s Kitchen, DCANTER and Summit to Soul will donate a percentage of sales to benefit schools and nonprofit organizations in D.C.’s Capitol Hill neighborhood and beyond. Their effort is part of Capitol Hill Giving Week, a new initiative that aims to meaningfully give back to the local community that, in turn, supports them as small businesses.
Leah Daniels, owner of Hill’s Kitchen, launched the initiative in 2018 with a focus on raising funds for Capitol Hill schools. This year, she invited other Capitol Hill businesses to participate and create their own giving programs.
“For more than a decade, Hill’s Kitchen has loved supporting our neighborhood schools,” Daniels said. “This year, we really wanted to take our program to the next level to reach maximum impact. We are so excited to have the incredible female entrepreneurs behind DCANTER and Summit to Soul join our efforts.”
